Today’s Wellness Whisper will seem very, very easy. But, it might be a challenge. Let me know!
Close, careful, slow, meditative looking boosts our wellbeing. It lowers our heart rate. It builds our skills of concentration, and it provides us with an opportunity to step away from the stresses of daily life.
You have one image to look at. Set the timer on your phone for three minutes. Let go of everything else. Don’t think about your to-do list. Don’t think about work. Don’t think about the noises out in your neighborhood. Don’t wonder what you cat is up to! Just focus on this painting.
First, look at the artistry. Notice the brushstrokes. Pay attention to all the shades of blue. And yellow. And green. And white. Ask yourself why Homer, the artist, might have laid this scene out the way he did.
Now, examine the overall scene, all of the details that he included. Find the chickens. See the various types of flora he includes. Did you find his signature? How many buildings are there?
Lastly, put yourself into the scene. Where would you be? Inside the house?Watering the flowers? In a boat on the water? Exploring the fort in the background?
Finish with a slow, deep breath and a roll of the shoulders. Did you make it for the full three minutes? Congratulations!
