ooh, this is my kind of museum! I love local, smaller museums. Also, working as a 911 operator I deal with daily calls for fire and see first hand how devastating fires can be and how quickly they spread. We recently had a fire next to the historic Incline Railroad here in Chattanooga. It damaged the tracks and the Incline, which is a major tourist attraction as well as a historic site, had to close while they repair it. Fire prevention education is very important. Over the 4th of July weekend a fire started in a family's garage trashcan and they lost their home. They had put the spent fireworks into a trashcan not realizing that it still had heat and gunpowder on it and so ignited the paper and what not in the can. So thanks for this very important museum and the work you do.

This museum does sound intriguing, doesn't it! Your experience as a 911 operator would definitely connect you to this museum! Your 4th of July story is so very sad. Unfortunately, fire prevention is probably something most of us don't know enough about. Thus, the importance of this museum!

I live just outside Columbus and this makes me want to visit this museum this summer. I’ve driven by several times but have never thought about visiting it.
