Claude Joseph Vernet (1714–1789) was a renowned French painter celebrated for his atmospheric seascapes and dramatic landscapes. Commissioned by King Louis XV, his famous series Ports of France captures bustling harbor scenes with striking light and weather effects, showcasing both artistic skill and national pride.
