Generally, I'm with you, 2-3 hours is perfect. However, sometimes, due to travel schedules, I'll need to spend a whole day at a museum. Examples: the Met, Winterthur, Colonial Williamsburg. I'm very intentional about breaking up the day. At Winterthur, for example, I took a guided tour, had an early lunch, walked in the gardens, visited the exhibits, had tea and a pastry, and visited the rest of the exhibits.
You mention a museum taking four hours? Are you able to visit a museum for that long? I’m just curious — my limit is about 2 hours, though I can push to 3 if absolutely necessary. But my brains starts getting full at about the 90 min mark. If a museum will take more than 3 hours I break it into multiple visits.
You always have such great advice! We love the BIG guys but planning is so helpful. Having a good experience should be everyone's goal! Thanks.
You're welcome! I so appreciate your kind words!
